After surviving my first ever round of parent teacher conferences this year, this story struck a chord with me. The story is about a kindergartener heading off into the wilds of school for the first time. The story also concerns this students parents, as they struggle with the process of growing up. Read carefully and enjoy the twist at the end. Charles by Shirley Jackson is an easy read, but extremely satisfying. It put a smile on my face imagining a little boy in overalls narrating his school life through the use of a fictional character.
